The loss of life is high in Afghanistan, the countrys Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah told the 37th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday.
Abdullah said that the Afghans are going through a difficult period, and their human rights are being challenged by terror and armed groups, "who are in most case operating from foreign-based sanctuaries."
"No place is safe. Mosques, hospitals, schools, universities, media centres, markets and other soft targets are all vulnerable," Abdullah said.
"The loss of life is high, but at the same time our valiant security forces have, since 2015, almost entirely shouldered the burden of defence and offense against terrorists and militants who enjoy sanctuaries beyond our border regions."
Abdullah suggested that the conflict in Afghanistan is rooted in Pakistan where state-sponsored terrorists are financed, trained and enjoy sanctuary facilities.
"We request all international organizations and governments to assist us in dealing with these violations, and mitigate further attacks."
During his speech, Abdullah also said that the Afghan government is committed to consolidate its human rights gains, adding Afghanistans securing of UNHRC membership was an opportunity to collectively promote and protect human rights values and principles across continents, for all people.
He said that the government is committed to cooperate with the International Criminal Court.
